CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

Learn the fundamentals of effective instruction and increase your own level of understanding in order to impart knowledge to the next generation. Understand the use of demonstration, critique and correction to get the best from your trainees.

This 9 week program starts with the ground school element and the completion of two written exams. You will then progress to learning how to teach both on the ground and in flight as well as how to demonstrate manoeuvres. The wealth of experience amongst our team will be invaluable to your progression and level of understanding. Skyborne offers further advanced CFI qualifications including CFII and MEI.

ENTRY Requirements

You must hold as a minimum:

  • U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident, Green Card or M1 Visa. Green Card and M1 visa holders must register with the TSA at www.flightschoolcandidates.gov. Refer to the TSA Guide for Green Card Holders for assistance.
  • FAA 1st Class Medical
  • FAA Single Engine CPL with IR
  • Proof of Education – Applicants must possess an education level equivalent to a U.S. High School diploma or higher. Education not obtained in the U.S. or at an IBO school must be certified as equivalent to a U.S. High School diploma. This can be done through a member of NACES at www.naces.org/members.html International education documents must be submitted in English or translated and certified.

FINANCE

The fee structure for the various levels offered are:

  • CFI Part 141 $11,112
  • CFII Part 61 $3,789
  • MEI Part 61 $1,825

Additional fees to consider totalling $1,825 include:

  • Flight evaluation – estimated 5 hours
  • Drug testing
  • Equipment (including headset, iPad & ForeFlight)
  • Uniform

You will complete your training at our high-quality Vero Beach training facility, making use of our premium equipment and highly experienced instructor team. Our fair-weather climate means that it is always good time to join us!

CFI

  • 66 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction
  • 24 hours of practical experience on the Piper Warrior G500

CFII

  • 10 hours of practical experience on the Piper Warrior G500 (includes 2 hours rental)
  • 4 hours on the flight simulator AATD

MEI

  • 15 hours of practical experience on the Piper Seminole G500
  • 2 hours rental of the Piper Warrior G500
